Book recs?
Welp, my computer's crashed and burned. If I'm missing in action (which I have been and will be pretty often over the next few weeks, probably ;_;) that's why!

But that's also why I'm making this post. I've been reading a lot more books, but, er, I've become utterly spoiled by Terry Pratchett's Discworld stuff. I keep expecting that kind of quality, character development, lack of enraging elements, and humor from every other novel I try to read, and it's... clearly not working out. >_> The only other place I've found the same kind of general goodness is in fanfic, actually.

So, any more amazing books out there? They don't have to be humor/satire, just awesome and entertaining. Please?

Have you tried the Percy Jackson series? Hilarity.

Lol, I have! But you just reminded me that I have to filch the last couple books from my sister. I love the mythological elements and Percy's dorkness.

Have you read the new series as well? Oh, and the Carter Chronicles with the Egyptian gods by the same author?

HI HI HI! Eeee, I was just as excited to see your comment. :) How have you been? I hope I haven't missed you online too much while I've been mostly computerless. :O

There's not much to my life right now but the THESIS. So no, you haven't missed me a lot because I haven't been online, either!

I hope we both have the opportunity to chat soon! <3

Have you read the Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan...it's a great loooong series. Dune is another one that I enjoy, but it could get really slow sometime. Let's see, here are a list of books that I enjoy reading :
The Farseer Trilogy by Robin Hobb
Eragon series by Christopher Paolini (book is so much better than the movie)
The Belgariad series by David Eddings

I've read Wheel of Time, Dune (my dad got me hooked on that one) and Eragon (all good recs!) but never Farseer or Belgariad! Noting those down just in case I pop out to the bookstore and/or the library later. Thanks for the advice! <333

I loved Belgariad so much when I was 9-15-ish, so maybe you'll like it too! But I don't know what it's like to read it as an adult. Let me know what you thought of it if you do read it! Ooh, and have you read Astrid Lindgren's Brothers Lionheart? Have you found it anywhere?

Have you read Diana Wynne Jones's books? They might be a little more YA than you're looking for, but those basic elements that you describe are there..
